Description:
The Jephcott Charitable Trust gave a donation to the Helford River Children’s Sailing Trust in October 2008 to purchase six RS Terras and two RS Visions as can be seen in the photographs opposite.

A report has been received from the Sailing Trust which outlines their three main achievements of the donation. These are that it:

1. has transformed our volunteer training with more volunteers being trained and equally important, a significant increase in the numbers of volunteers achieving higher levels of RYA qualifications. We now have 151 active volunteers.

2. has enabled all our Year 4 s (aged 8/9), who aspire to move on from the Oppies on which they start to learn to sail single-handed, to have the opportunity to sail the RS Terras. This is tremendously motivating and leads to even greater self-confidence.

3. has enhanced the training of a teenage group which we set up 2 years ago who desire to achieve higher levels of RYA qualifications. This project has been highly successful as witnessed by a comment made to our Founder John Green by 2 teenagers from Boskenwyn School – one already qualified as an assistant instructor, the other just about to be - they said “We just wanted to tell you; I am determined to be a doctor and my sister is equally determined to qualify as a vet. We know that we would not be set on such careers if we had not gained self confidence through sailing. We have just come to thank you for setting up HRCST”
