Hope after Suicide Loss
Scaling up of bereavement support following Suicide
‘Hope’ provides specialist support across the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk to adults bereaved by suicide (‘survivors’), recognising the significant need for specialised services to survivors by professionals with direct experience of such bereavement. The charity is dedicated to providing a high standard of service, via a comprehensive, compassionate support package, specifically tailored to meet the needs of suicide loss, to alleviate isolation, reduce secondary suicides and offer an open-ended service free of charge.
Services include face-to-face groups, one-to-one telephone peer support and counselling, a monthly newsletter, and an annual service of remembrance for survivors. Presentations are also delivered at conferences and workshops to provide specialist information and guidance on the subject of bereavement as a result of suicide.
Funds supported the charity to build capacity, scale up their work and reach a greater number of people, enabling survivors to re-build their lives following the trauma of suicide. Where it is considered that the survivor needs higher level, therapeutic counselling support, a panel of counsellors is available which a person can be referred to for an unlimited number of sessions.
